Chicago Youth Programs, Inc. (CYP) is an innovative non-profit organization founded and sustained by volunteers with the mission to improve the life opportunities and health of at-risk youth using a comprehensive approach aimed at developing their capabilities. The highly effective Cabrini Green Youth Program (CGYP), founded in 1984 by Northwestern University medical students, distressed by the challenges posed to youth growing up in these isolated public housing projects, served as a model for future expansion and the addition of the Washington Park Youth Program (WPYP), established in 1995, and the Uptown Community Youth Program (UCYP) which began in 1998. Today, CYP serves over 450 at-risk youth from birth through college from these three disadvantaged/impoverished communities.

Runners and aspiring runners, get ready! PERL Mortgage would like to invite you to the running event of the year!

On May 17th, PERL Mortgage will be one of the elite sponsors for the Magellan Development Chicago Spring Half Marathon, 10K, and Junior Dash to benefit Chicago Youth Programs. PERL will have a tent and a team of staff members running, volunteering and of course, cheering.

The race will start and end in the park at Lakeshore East and the running course will follow the lakefront path going South. The course will be flat and fast, perfect for runners and spectators of all levels. There will be a post race party with a catered picnic for all athletes as well as entertainment at the finish and on course. All participants in the Half Marathon and the 10K will receive a short-sleeved technical shirt as well as a goody bag. In addition, Magellan will be hosting a hospitality tent for VIP’s and residents of Lakeshore East.

Here are a few ways to get involved:

1. RUN & RECRUIT: Sign up to run and recruit as many family member and friends to run as you can! The cost for the 10K is $35.00 online and $40.00 on race day and for the Half Marathon the cost is $45.00 online and $50.00 race day.

2. VOLUNTEER & RECRUIT: Come out on race day and bring your enthusiastic family and friends to help too! Volunteer activities include; water and aid stations, assisting in the Magellan hospitality tent, set-up and break down of Magellan Sales tents and materials, traffic control and assistance at Lakeshore East properties for road shut-downs, and finisher medal distribution. In addition to volunteering, recruit as many family and friends as you can to participate in the race!
