Russ Gelberg was born in Stamford, Connecticut. Russ holds numerous degrees: he graduated from S.U.N.Y. Oneonta with a B.S. in Geology in 1984, Purdue University with an MS in Petroleum Geology in 1986, and later earned his M.B.A. in Finance in 1987 at the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University.

He began his career in corporate finance at Chrysler Corporation. Russ went on to become CFO of a Chicago furniture manufacturer and retailer. He joined PERL because of its excellent reputation as one of Chicago’s leading independent financial institutions.
